About hiroshimamiyajima.com
hiroshimamiyajima.com is an independent guide to guided day trips to Hiroshima and the island of Miyajima, starting in Osaka, Kyoto or at Hiroshima Station. This page explains who runs it, how it is financed and where the information comes from.
Who is behind this site
hiroshimamiyajima.com is run by Patrick Kühne, an independent travel publisher based in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, Germany. He builds and maintains a small portfolio of guides to attraction tickets and day tours. There is no agency and no rotating editorial team behind this site: the pages are researched, written and kept up to date by one person, the same one who answers the e-mails.
What this site does
A day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima looks simple on a booking page and gets complicated at the checkout. Is the bullet train in the price or not? Does the from-price belong to the start in Osaka or to the start in Hiroshima? Is the Peace Memorial Museum included, and will the torii stand in water when the bus arrives? We put the bookable day trips side by side and answer these questions for each one, using what the operators state on their product pages. We are not a booking agent; every reservation happens on the booking platform.
How we earn money
When you book through one of our links, the booking platform pays us a commission. Your price stays exactly the same: the commission comes out of the platform's margin, not your pocket. No contract obliges us to favour a particular operator, and our tables are sorted by number of reviews, not by what pays us best.
Where our information comes from
Prices, ratings and review counts come from our booking partners' APIs and are refreshed automatically. Tour facts (start point, train, entry fees, duration, lunch, cancellation) come from the operators' product pages and are re-checked regularly. Background facts such as the Miyajima visitor tax, the tide levels at the torii and the JR Pass rules come from local and official sources named in our notes. Where a product page leaves something open, we say so instead of guessing. Found something out of date? Write to us and we will correct it.
What we are not
We do not run any tours and we are not affiliated with any operator, railway or shrine mentioned on this site. For binding information (timetables, museum opening days, typhoon closures, cancellations) the operator's and the institutions' own channels always take precedence.
