One station, several meeting points
Hiroshima Station has a north side, a south side and the Shinkansen gate on the second floor, and the operators use different corners of it. Missing the right one costs time on tours that leave to a timetable.

Coach or public transport
The coach tours by Japan Panoramic Tours and H.I.S. drive you to the Peace Memorial Park and on to the ferry pier, and both include the museum, the ferry and the shrine. Japan Panoramic Tours offers an okonomiyaki lunch as an option and has an audio guide with a German version; H.I.S. includes the lunch and guides live in English. The smaller tours by Evergrove, Cornwall and Pinpoint Traveler use trams, local trains and the ferry. That means more walking and fewer people around the guide. Check who pays the fares: several Cornwall guests wrote that they bought the train, ferry and bus tickets themselves. Evergrove covers shrine, Senjokaku and museum entry; Pinpoint Traveler covers tram, ferry and entries but not lunch.
The order of the day is not always the title
Most coach days start at the Peace Memorial Park and reach Miyajima in the afternoon. Cornwall turns it round: Miyajima comes first and the day ends at the Peace Memorial Museum. Pinpoint Traveler starts at the park and finishes back at Hiroshima Station. If the tide matters to you, the order sets the time of day you reach the torii; the tide times page explains the levels.
Coming in by Shinkansen the same morning
The H.I.S. bus leaves Hiroshima Station at 9:45 and does not wait for late arrivals. Choose a train with a margin, and allow a few minutes to walk from the Shinkansen platforms to the meeting point on the second floor.
If you would rather go on your own
The JR Sanyo Line takes about 25 minutes from Hiroshima Station to Miyajimaguchi, and the ferry across to the island about ten. Tram line 2 also runs to Miyajimaguchi but takes longer. A direct boat leaves from the Peace Memorial Park and needs about 45 minutes. Fares, the visitor tax and which boats the JR Pass covers are on the ferry and visitor tax page.
Lunch on the tour
Okonomiyaki, the layered Hiroshima pancake with noodles and cabbage, is the standard tour lunch. On the H.I.S. tour it is included, and you can order it without pork or without fish and egg, though not change the choice on the day. Japan Panoramic Tours sells it as an option and offers a vegetarian version on request, but no vegan, halal or gluten-free meal. Reviews of the H.I.S. lunch go both ways, as the quotes below show.
